I go to "group" on Wednesday's to be weighed and chat with the other ladies who are part of our circle and I'll post more about that and how it helps another day. But the big worry is the weigh in! This is done privately and just you and the group leader are aware of what you actually weigh however, gains and losses are announced to the group and you then get applause or support depending on how you have done. Then say your little piece about what has helped this week or what has been your downfall.
The fact that there are these people there who are your steadfast guide to commiserate and celebrate with you is something I've never experienced before and I have to say that I really do think that is a big part of why slimming groups are so successful. When you are overweight as I am and so many others to a certain extent it can feel like such a private issue. Both of shame and of the constant ongoing battle to lose it.
Whilst dieting is talked about in magazines and amongst friends it is always seems to be the large losses that are celebrated and the small gains treated as some sort of apocalypse. At a group like mine even the small is celebrated and the gains are certainly not an apocalypse but more a small pebble in your path that you have stumbled upon and certainly nothing insurmountable. Just something to pick yourself up from and dust yourself off and once again place your feet back on the well worn track that so many others have struggled along before you. And I think previously that is what I have been missing. The support of other people in the same boat as me who are all pulling in the same direction with the same course in mind.
And on to the good stuff! Today was an incredible day! I lost six pounds this week and won slimmer of the week as I lost more than anyone else at group! I came home walking on air! Which would have been a lot easier had I not had to keep tugging up my trousers and knickers! What an attractive sight I must have looked.
Then home for a quick dinner as G gets a little antsy when he doesn't get fed until nine o'clock which is par for the course on Wednesdays what with group not starting till seven. Leftover roast chicken, bean sprouts, pepper and whatever green stuff is sitting in the fridge. A good slug of chinese five spice and soy sauce and noodles to serve with it and a healthy substantial meal is on the plate within fifteen minutes and all free or healthy extras on the plan!
Fingers crossed that next week whilst possibly not quite so successful still maintains the momentum I've gained. Huge boost to the confidence today though, I'm an ecstatically happy camper!
